Gostiny Dvor is a modern expo center situated in the ancient building. The architectural complex starts its history since the XIV century when traders from Moscow chose an area in Kitay-Gorod for their shops and warehouses. In the XVIII century Catherine the Great entrusted the Italian architect Giacomo Quarenghi to replace the medieval buildings with a new shopping mall, an elegant building in a classical style.
In the 1990s, the building was modified both inside and outside. It was renovated and equipped with engineering systems by international standards. So, Gostiny Dvor has been converted into a modern and luxurious expo center of over 82 000 sq.m. The courtyard is paved with granite and surrounded by innumerable columns and arcades under the modern glass dome.
Nowadays, Atrium of Gostiny Dvor is a modern fairground. The total area of Atrium is more than 13 000 sq.m., the height of the hall is 24 meters, and the total capacity is up to 5000 participants. The Atrium’s amphitheater can accommodate up to 500 people. With these characteristics, Atrium hosts over 50 events annually, including festivals, city parties, concerts, business forums, fashion shows, fairs, Viennese balls, exhibitions and salons.
Gostiny Dvor is well located in the center of Moscow next to the Red Square providing high attendance of events.
